Saturday 26 September: A perfect day for Tennis. The sun was shining & no wind or rain was forecast. 10 Finals were eagerly contested. A fantastic culmination to our annual club championships. After a great day of Tennis; finalists were presented with their trophies then players, families & friends ended the day with an excellent BBQ.

The last few weeks has seen a buzz of activity at the Tennis club. Over 100 matches have been keenly fought with players trying to produce their best Tennis to progress to the finals. Singles & Doubles events were organised from 13/under through to 45/over.

Our championships have a long history. The Ladies Singles trophy had its first winner in
1926: Miss May Harvey
and the Men’s singles trophy was
1927: R W Cattell
these trophies are still going strong 83 years later with Jane Kelly (Ladies) and Michael Gavriel (Men) winning in 2009 to be included in this honoured list.

Finals day saw players arriving for their matches. Could they overcome their nerves & fears to produce their best Tennis. The warm up helps to calm the nerves then the match starts. There is no going back. Families & friends turned up to support and they were not disappointed. There were some great and highly contested games which produced hard hitting and attacking Tennis. Well done to all finalists.
